Highlights of the Comptroller’s audit
■ “Although all tracks have established procedures for post-race drug testing, we found that they are not always followed at Saratoga Gaming and Raceway.”
■ The state Gaming Commission requires the winner and at least one other horse be drug tested after each race.
■ Post-race drug tests: At Saratoga Gaming and Raceway, state auditors reviewed eight days, during which 92 races were held. For four of the eight days (40 races), two horses had not been drug tested each day. On three of the four days (35 races), only the winner was drug tested for each race, but no other horse. On the other day, officials sampled only the winner for five of the 11 races.
