Troy woman charged with driving drunk

BRUNSWICK — State police arrested Stephanie A. Welch, 34, of Troy after her blood-alcohol level tested at more than three times the legal limit.

Welch was stopped for a traffic offense along State Route 7 in Brunswick on Monday morning, Jan. 7. State Police released the details of the arrest on Sunday.

After police said she failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody at the Brunswick state police barracks, her blood-alcohol level tested at .28 percent.

A DMV check revealed Welch had two previous convictions for DWI.

Welch was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated. She was arraigned in Brunswick Town Court and released to the supervision of the Rensselaer County Probation Office. She is scheduled to reappear in court at a later date.
