WATERFORD — Mrs. Beverly J. (Jesmain) Penk, born on February 10, 1933, in Latham to the late Mildred M. (Fox) Jesmain and the late Frank Jesmain, passed away peacefully at age 85 on January 12, 2019, at her home in Waterford.

Beverly was married to the late Frederick N. Gregory between 1952 - 1954. Later, Beverly was married to Frank C. Penk Jr. for 50 years. She was preceded in death by her beloved dog, Babe. Beverly is survived by her son, Hugh C. Penk; and daughters, Gail (Gregory) Rosch and Melanie (Penk) Bonenfant. She was sister of Frank, Charles, Shirley, David, and Kenneth. She was predeceased by her siblings, Mildred, Donald. Beverly had seven grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews who loved her very much.

Mrs. Penk was a people person! She was truly compassionate and fought for the truth. Beverly always stood up for the underdog. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Mrs. Penk loved Saratoga Vichy water and took her children to the park many times during summers. She taught 4-H swimming at Pine Lake Beach. Beverly was mom to many, and spent years fostering children at her home in Schaghticoke. Beverly proudly received her GED as an adult and even attended community college. She retired from the Grand Union Company. After her retirement, she worked part time at the Dollar Tree, simply because she loved serving people. In her later years, Beverly moved to Florida so that she could be near her daughter and other family members. Last summer, she relocated to Waterford. Beverly loved Chinese food, a good steak, Charlie’s Hot Dogs, and Ted’s Fish Fry. She was a Sunday school teacher at First Presbyterian Church in Schaghticoke, and a lifetime member of Order of the Eastern Star.

Friends and family are welcome to attend the memorial service on Thursday, January 17, at 6 p.m. in the Marra Funeral Home. Calling hours are from 4 - 6 p.m., prior to the services.
