The New York Rangers earn a 2-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night.

Namestikov scores tiebreaker in third, Lundqvist stops 43

Vladislav Namestikov scored the tiebreakin­g goal early in the third period, giving the New York Rangers a 2-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night.

Connor Brickley also scored for the Rangers, who earned a split of a four-game road trip and handed the Hurricanes just their third loss this month. Henrik Lundqvist stopped 43 shots to get his 17th win of the season.

Jordan Martinook scored and Curtis Mcelhinney finished with 24 saves for Carolina, which had won six of its previous seven games — including its first road win over the Rangers since Oct. 2010. The victory on Feb. 8 ended a 16-game losing streak at New York, but the Rangers were able to return the favor on the Hurricanes’ home ice. Penguins 4, Devils 3: Bryan Rust scored a tiebreakin­g goal midway through the second period and Pittsburgh continued its playoff push and avoided the embarrassm­ent of being swept by lowly New Jersey. Defenseman Chad Ruhwedel, Nick Bjugstad and Zach Aston-reese also scored for Pittsburgh, which has won four of its last five in its bid to make the playoffs for the 13th straight year. Jesper Bratt, Marcus Johansson and Miles Wood scored for the Devils, who had a two-game winning streak snapped. Union alum Keith Kinkaid made 24 saves while losing to the Penguins for the first time in four games this season.

Panthers 4, sabres 2: Jonathan Huberdeau had two goals and an assist to lead Florida. Aleksander Barkov had a goal and two assists, Jayce Hawryluk also scored and Frank Vatrano had two assists for the Panthers. Jack Eichel and Vladimir Sobotka scored for the Sabres and Linus Ullmark stopped 37 shots. Buffalo has lost three straight games. lightning 5, Flyers 2: J.T. Miller had a goal and an assist, and Tampa Bay used a fast start to win its seventh straight. Alex Killorn, Mikhail Sergachev and Yanni Gourde also scored, and Ryan Mcdonagh added an empty-netter for Tampa Bay (46-11-4, 96 points), which entered 15 points ahead of Calgary for the most in the league. canadiens 3, blue Jackets 2: Tomas Tatar scored in the third period to lift Montreal. The victory was Montreal’s first since Feb. 4 and ended a four-game skid. Paul Byron and Max Domi also scored, and Carey Price made 31 saves. blues 3, Maple leafs 2 (ot): Ryan O’reilly scored 34 seconds into overtime and St. Louis beat Toronto for their franchise-record 11th straight win. Jaden Schwartz and Colton Parayko also scored and Tyler Bozak had two assists for the Blues.

Ducks 4, Wild 0: Ryan Miller made 31 saves for his 44th career shutout as Anaheim beat Minnesota. Jakob Silfverber­g, Corey Perry, Ryan Kesler and Hampus Lindholm scored to help Anaheim get its third win in four games. Predators 5, stars 3: Roman Josi scored the go-ahead goal with 12:25 to play and added an empty-netter to lift Nashville. Josi skated from behind the net into the slot, and his wrist shot hit defenseman Esa Lindell’s skate and popped over goalie Anton Khudobin. note: Buffalo Sabres forward Kyle Okposo has sustained his third concussion in less than three years. The team announced the diagnosis on its Twitter account Tuesday, a day after Okposo was sent home for follow-up medical tests. The 30-year-old Okposo was hurt Friday, when he was felled by a punch to the face during a fight with New York’s Tony Deangelo in the third period of a 6-2 loss to the Rangers. Okposo did not return to play against the Rangers, but was cleared to travel with the Sabres to open their three-game trip at New Jersey on Sunday. He did not play against the Devils, and returned to Buffalo while the Sabres traveled to Florida to play the Panthers
