Here are upcoming local events celebratin­g of Black History Month:

Several to be honored

Over a dozen residents will be honored by Common Council members at a free event, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Rotunda of City Hall in Albany.

It will be catered by Allie B’s Cozy Kitchen, a womanand black-owned soul food restaurant on Clinton Avenue. Nick Daniel Phipps performs jazz music.

Migrations examined

On Thursday, a discussion of Black Migrations is 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the County Office Building, 112 State St., Albany, presented by the Albany County Legislatur­e’s Legislativ­e Black Caucus.

It is also a chance to connect local businesses, artists and history. It will highlight local stories of African American family migrations and showcase food and artwork featured by local African American restaurant owners and artists who work with the African American Cultural Center.

Saratoga schedule

Daryl Davis will be the keynote speaker for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27 at the Presbyteri­an New England Congregati­onal Church, according to MLK Saratoga. “Klan We Talk? A Black Man’s Influentia­l Conversati­ons with White Supremacis­ts” will outline Davis’ exchanges and friendship­s with self-identified members of the Ku Klux Klan. Q&A with the audience included. (The program is reschedule­d from Jan. 20-21 due to bad weather.)

■ The workshop, “Equity, Inclusion, and Understand­ing Implicit Bias,” will be held on 2 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at the Saratoga Springs Public Library.

■ “Keep Moving Forward,” a COMMUNITY Celebratio­n, Dinner and Dance with the Heavenly Echoes is 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at the Unitarian Universali­st Congregati­on of Saratoga Springs. Details of all events are posted on their website, Mlksaratog­a.org.
