Fonda girls upset Schalmont in ‘B’

Thirteenth-seeded Fonda upset fifth-seeded Schalmont, 55-37, on Wednesday in a Section II Class B girls’ basketball quarterfin­al contest.

Abigail Lombardoni scored 27 points to lead the Lady Braves, who held Schalmont to just eight points in the final quarter to seal the victory.

Payton Graber had 26 points for Schalmont.

Fonda will take on top-seeded Tamarac, which beat Hudson 51-47 in its quarterfin­al matchup, in the semifinal round at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Averill Park.
