Albany man faces child porn charge

ALBANY — A 34-yearold city man faces federal charges after the FBI accused him of using a phone messaging app to distribute child pornography, the U.S. attorney’s office said.

Blake Spears was charged Tuesday after a hearing before Magistrate Judge Christian F. Hummel, prosecutors said.

On Friday, agents found a thumb drive at Spear’s home that held images of child pornography. The U.S. attorney’s office said Spears’ use of the Kik phone app to distribute porn occurred in December. Spears faces at least five years in prison if he is convicted of the charges.
