Troy pushes No. 3 seed to double overtime in ‘A’

No. 3-seeded Amsterdam got everything it could handle from No. 6 Troy on Thursday night, including eight extra minutes of girls’ basketball, before the Rams prevailed 70-64 in a Class A quarterfin­al.

The double-overtime win included a career-high 32 points from Jackie Stanavich and 16 points, 17 rebounds from Andie Gannon. The tandem produced late buckets in regulation to force overtime after Troy had a 10-0 run that opened a four-point lead.

Troy was led by Alaina Holmes, who had 20 points.

More girls’ basketball: Holy names survived in Class A, getting 25 points from Grace field on the way to a 55-44 win against Gloversvil­le. field hit 7 of 9 free throws along with nine shots inside the arc. that was enough to withstand Harmony Philo, who finished her season with 16 points, while Kendra Lavery led the dragons with 18 points. Holy names scored 15 points in each of the first two quarters and built an eight-point halftime lead. … Averill Park’s 66-36 win to reach the Class A semifinals featured Anna Jankovic leading the Warriors with 15 points, while Kelsey Wood added 13 and emmalee morgan contribute­d 10. Ballston Spa, as a no. 8 seed, hung tough in the first quarter against the no. 1 Warriors, trailing, 20-15, but didn’t score in the second quarter to trail 31-15 at halftime. Halle Wright led the Scotties with 11 points . ... Albany’s 56-47 Class AA win featured 16 points from Hasijna Gaddy, who hit five shots from the field and six free throws. Ahniysha Jackson added 12 points, including three 3-pointers. Ava Laclair led Bethlehem with 19 points, including four 3-pointers. ... Saratoga Springs’ 59-50 Class AA win against Shaker included dolly Cairns making three of the Blue Streaks’ six 3-pointers. Cairns finished with 22 points while Kerry flaherty added 16 (and three 3-pointers) and Abby ray had 12 points. Jules debeatham had 17 points in the defeat, as Saratoga Springs jumped out to a 28-15 halftime lead and never looked back. Cairns went 7-for-8 at the foul line, including 5-for-6 in the fourth quarter.
