Warriors stretch their winning streak to 50 with Class C victory at HVCC

The top-seeded Lake George boys’ basketball team kept its perfect record intact and climbed to 22-0 overall on the season with a 75-31 win over eighth-seeded Schoharie on Friday in its Section II Class C quarterfin­al contest at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy.

Chris Becker scored 19 points to lead the Warriors, who have now won 50 straight games.

Next up for Lake George is Mayfield in the semifinals round. Mayfield rolled to a 71-56 victory over Chatham in a battle of Panthers in the night’s other quarterfin­al game in Clifton Park.

More boys’ basketball: Third-seeded Watervliet ended 11th-seeded Mechanicvi­lle’s Class B Tournament run with a 74-59 win in Friday’s quarterfin­al round. Messiah Mallory scored 21 points and Khari Croley added 19 points to lead the Cannoneers. Watervliet improved to 17-5 with the victory. Anthony Attala had 19 points for the Red Raiders, who closed the season at 12-9 . ... Fonda cruised to a 69-56 win over Catskill in another Class B quarterfin­al. The Braves will take on topseeded Schalmont, which beat Schuylervi­lle 65-42 in its quarterfin­al, at 8p.m. on Monday in the semifinal round at Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls . ... Albany Academy rolled to a 72-40 win over Martin Luther King (New York City) in a nonleague contest. August Mahoney scored 24 points, knocking down six 3-pointers, and Andre Jackson had 20 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Cadets.
