The Albany Fire Department’s Hazmat team responded to the incident in Albany. All samples of the white powder tested so far have not contained hazardous material, authorities said.

A 22-year-old Troy man pleaded guilty to manslaughter Wednesday for stabbing an Albany man to death last July.
Khaa-leel Allah admitted that he stabbed James Jones, 45, in the chest on July 25 during a fight inside a home on Lark Street.
As part of the plea deal, Allah faces up to 22 years in state prison at his sentencing on April 10. The deal also includes up to five years of post-release supervision.
Allah was arrested in September and originally charged with second-degree murder. In the days following the stabbing, witnesses told the Times Union that Jones had left work and was drinking a few beers when a man and woman attacked him near 123 Lark St..
The man and woman then went inside the home. But the man re-emerged with a knife and stabbed Jones several times, a witness said. The 45-year-old was found bleeding and was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital, where he died.
Marcina Dean, who described herself a longtime friend of Jones, previously told the Times Union that Jones had lived in Albany for 25 years and worked construction. She said Jones enjoyed painting and dancing. Jones’ death marked Albany’s ninth homicide in 2018.
