Dolly Parton hits the track
At this Saturday’s Alsco 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennesse, 2018 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion Tyler Riddick’s Chevy Camaro may be the most distinctive: It will be decked out in full Dolly Parton livery... pink swirls, butterflies and all.
The country music icon is the sole sponsor of Riddick’s ride, promoting the full umbrella of Dolly-branded enterprises with logos of her record label, Dollywood Dreammore Resort & Spa, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library book-gifting program, Dolly Parton’s Stampede dinner attraction, Dollywood’s Splash Country, the coming Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show and, of course, nearby Dollywood theme park. Make that country music icon and inexhaustable entrepreneur.
But the Dolly ride still isn’t the craziest idea for wrapping a racing vehicle. That trophy still has to go to to the No. 32 Ford Mustang piloted by Corey Lajoie at Daytona in February that featured... Corey Lajoie’s face plastered over the hood and grille. He could maybe teach Dolly a thing or two about self-promotion.
