Cooperstown home of rapper on market

After money dispute, bankruptcy case, $1M house up for auction

- By Larry Rulison

This might just be the summer that Robert Fraser gets his wish and his dispute with former rapper Pete Nice comes to an end.

Fraser, of Westwood, N.J., has been chasing Nice, whose real name is Peter Nash, for years through the court system trying to recover money he is owed from a sports memorabilia deal between the two men that dates back years, and involves the 1912 Red Sox World Series trophy.

The prize they have been fighting for years over? Nash’s waterfront home on Otsego Lake, which could fetch up to $1 million.

Last summer, Nash successfully blocked the sale of the home after it was bid on at a sheriff’s sale by filing for Chapter 13 bankruptcy protection.

But following the dismissal of his bankruptcy case by U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Robert Littlefield Jr. in Albany back in March, the auction of the Peggs Point home is now back on and scheduled for July 8 at the Otsego County public safety building in Cooperstown.

“Judge Littlefield wants that thing sold,” Fraser said.

Nash could not immediately be reached for comment. In bankruptcy documents, Nash lists his residence as a suite in an office building on New Karner Road. His estranged wife lives in Saratoga Springs.

During his hip-hop days rapping for 3rd Bass, Nash went by Prime Minister Pete Nice and later went on to become a major player in the sports memorabilia market.

Five years ago, Nash got in legal trouble over unpaid state taxes, although criminal tax fraud charges were ultimately discharged in Albany County Court after a $13,000 debt was paid.
