■ Line: Alabama by 311/2 ■ Series: Alabama leads 3-1 ■ What’s at stake: Alabama will be opening the season with a neutral-site game for the eighth year in a row, and this one has a similar feel to the Crimson Tide’s 51-14 blowout of Louisville last season. Duke isn’t expected to provide much of a challenge, but there is still a bit of intrigue as Alabama plays for the first time since its 44-16 shellacking by Clemson in the national title game. With everyone talking up the Tigers as the new face of college football, coach Nick Saban’s team will be eager to show that it intends to be a prime player in the national championship race.

■ Line: Georgia by 211/2

■ Series: Georgia leads 57-20-2

■ Line: Michigan by 341/2 ■ Series: First meeting ■ What’s at stake: Michigan has high hopes and many have hyped up expectations for coach Jim Harbaugh’s fifth team and it can’t afford to get stunned in the season-opening game. Middle Tennessee has nothing to lose in a game no one outside its program gives the heavy underdogs a chance to win.

■ Line: Auburn by 31/2

■ Series: Auburn leads 1-0

■ What’s at stake: Both teams would love to make an early statement that they’re for real. Oregon hopes to sustain the momentum of a three-game winning streak to end coach Mario Cristobal’s first season. Auburn is breaking in a freshman quarterback while trying to rebound from a disappointing season.
