ALBANY — Diana Retos, 94, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2019.

She was born in Chios, Greece on March 5, 1925, daughter of the late George and Maria Galis. She was predecease­d by her beloved husband John Retos in 1979; and her siblings.

Together in September of 1949, Diana moved with her husband to New York City where they owned Nick’s Restaurant. In August of 1969 they relocated and settled in Albany. She retired after 37 years of service at St. Peter’s Hospital. Diana was a devoted member of St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church for over 50 years, she created many cherished memories serving for the annual Greek Festival and baking for many other events. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmothe­r (Yiayia) and greatgrand­mother.

Diana is survived by her daughters, Debbie Socaris (George), and Marcella Panza (Dave Bezjian); son, Nick Retos (Cathy); grandchild­ren, Jon-michael Socaris (Amanda), Deanna Socaris, Michael Retos (Patty), and Nicholas Retos; great-grandchild­ren, Justin and Theo Retos; and several nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Viewing will be held on Saturday, August 31, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, 440 Whitehall Rd., Albany, NY, 12208. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held in the Graceland Cemetery, Albany.

, N.Y. Myrtle graduated from Gilboa-conesville Central School. Upon graduation, Myrtle followed her dream to go back to New York City and begin her quest for work. She held many administra­tive positions throughout the years eventually retiring from New York State in 1988.

Myrtle married Edward James Scott on June 30, 1946, in Ashland. They relocated to Schenectad­y, where they began raising their only child, Terrayne Scott Stortz. Myrtle and Edward enjoyed 52 years of marriage ending in Edward’s death on July 17, 1998.

Myrtle then met and married Paul F. Roth. They were married in Saratoga Springs on February 13, 1999. They resided on Claire Pass in Saratoga until Paul’s passing in 2012.

Myrtle lived a full life of family, travel and hobbies. She enjoyed reading, sewing and puzzles. In her two years at The Home of the Good Shepherd, she became a fan of Rummikub and bingo. Our thanks to the staff of The Home of the Good Shepherd, Wilton for their care of Myrtle.

Myrtle is survived by her only child, Terrayne (Lawrence) Stortz; and three grandchild­ren, Kimberly (Rodney) Priester, Jefferey Michael Stortz (Jolie), and Meghan Lorraine Kyne (Eric Mulholland). Myrtle was blessed to have eight great-grandchild­ren, Danielle Priester, Adam Stortz, Rachael Stortz, Olivia Stortz, Michael Kyne, Abigail Kyne, Aiden Mulholland and Maverick Mulholland.

A funeral home service will be celebrated by Pastor Adam Wiegand on Wednesday, September 4, at 11 a.m. at William J. Burke & Sons/ Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Home, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs. Entombment will follow at 12:30 p. m. in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylervi­lle.

In lieu of flowers, Myrtle’s family is requesting donations be made to The Home of the Good Shepherd, 60 Waller Road, Gansevoort, NY, 12831 or a charity of one’s choice.
