New York prepared to face Cowboys whether holdout RB signs contract or not

The New York Giants are ready to play the Cowboys whether Ezekiel Elliott plays for Dallas or not.

“We’re just focused on us, really,” linebacker Alex Ogletree said. “We have to be prepared for whoever shows up to play. If he’s there, we’ll be prepared for him. If he’s not, we also have to be prepared for the other guys. We just have to focus on what we need to do versus worrying about their situation as much.”

Bills: Buffalo signed quarterbac­k Davis Webb to its practice squad, two days after the former third-round pick was cut by the Jets. Webb, 24, has yet to appear in an NFL game since the Giants drafted him in 2017 . ... Center Mitch Morse is confident he’s ready to play in recovering from his fourth concussion.

Jets: New York hired former Steelers receiver Hines Ward as a full-time offensive assistant. Chiefs: Kansas City announced the signing of running back Lesean Mccoy to a one-year deal, two days after he was released by Buffalo.

Dolphins: Long snapper John Denney, 40, was released after 14 seasons with Miami. Denney joined the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2005 and played in 224 consecutiv­e games, the longest active streak in the NFL. After his release he posted a thank-you to the organizati­on, fans and teammates. Jaguars: Linebacker Myles Jack signed a four-year, $57 million extension . ... The team canceled practice as Hurricane Dorian nears.

Atlanta signed fullback Keith Smith and waived fullback Ricky Ortiz.

Browns: Starting left tackle Greg Robinson re-signed with the team, a day after his contract was surprising­ly terminated . ... Rookie Jamie Gillan made the team as the starting punter. Colts: A source said Indianapol­is signed starting QB Jacoby Brissett for two years and $30 million with $20 million guaranteed . ... The Colts also signed Brian Hoyer to a three-year, $12 million deal to be the backup quarterbac­k. Eagles: Coach Doug Pederson says he expects injured starters Fletcher Cox, Brandon Brooks, Nigel Bradham, Derek Barnett and Ronald Darby to be ready for the season opener after missing the preseason. Vikings: A source said receiver Josh Doctson agreed to terms on a one-year deal. Raiders: Oakland placed third-string quarterbac­k Nathan Peterman on injured reserve with an elbow injury.

Titans: Tennessee claimed defensive back Chris Milton off waivers from Indianapol­is and placed defensive back Josh Kalu on injured reserve.
