Bankroll Beatdown

-

Tim Wilkin and Anthony Stabile each was given a mythical $2,000 to spend as he sees fit during the Saratoga season.

Tim Wilkin

Here endeth the lesson. The Ultimate Meatball dragged himself up here from Howard Beach and predicted he would mop the floor with me during this Saratoga season. Well, guess what? I buried him in the picks box (for the second straight year) and I beat him in the Bankroll. Granted, neither of us had a great summer with the bets, but when it was all said and done after Labor Day, it was me who was on top with a semi-healthy total of $785.20. I don’t know if he had enough left for a Fresca and a can of Pringles on the NYS Thruway on the way home. Stabile will head back to Howard Beach and the hydrant and the pizza slices and, maybe, just maybe, he will get

Monday’s recap

a little dose of humble pie. Stabile is not a bad guy. He can be kind-hearted and quiet. When he is sleeping. When he opens his yap box and starts rambling about himself, it’s downright unlistenable. Work on that over the winter in Howard Beach, pal. It was fun playing the game with you. And, adios to all the people who put up with us over the long, hot summer at Saratoga. It was fun. See y’all down the line.

Monday’s results: Did ■ not get to play as Green Light Go was an early scratch from the Hopeful. So we end the season the way we started the day. Losses: $0

■ Bankroll: $785.20

Anthony Stabile

Congratulations to Tim Wilkin on his victory in the Bankroll Beatdown. We took a swing with a live long shot and just missed. My thank you parade ends with you, the readers and the fans. You’re the absolute best, and I don’t say that because you’re so kind, go out of your way to pay a compliment or have showered me with a bunch of great gifts, but because you love the same great game that I do. From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. you guys constantly showed up, and it’s been a pleasure to share the summer with you. I hope I get to do it for the rest of my life. Have an easy winter. I can’t wait to see you all next year.

Monday’s results:

Second-best in the finale. The story of the meet. Losses: $158

■ Bankroll: $.70
