Hoskins homers twice to lift Phils

Harper, Kingery each add two-run shots in blowout victory over Cincinnati

Rhys Hoskins drove in three runs with two homers and Bryce Harper and Scott Kingery added two-run shots as the Philadelph­ia Phillies overpowere­d the Cincinnati Reds 7-1 on Monday.

Drew Smyly (36) tied his season high with eight strikeouts while earning his first win in six starts.

Aristides Aquino homered for Cincinnati, his 15th in just 122 at-bats, 13 fewer than the record of 135 set last season by Hoskins.

Twins 4, Tigers 3: Max Kepler’s twoout, two-run single in the eighth rallied AL Central-leading Minnesota. The Twins have gone 6-1 in the first seven games of a 10-game road trip. Detroit starter Jordan Zimmermann gave up two runs on nine hits in six innings. Miguel Cabrera hit a solo homer for the Tigers. Ehire Adrianza homered for Minnesota.

Rays 5, Orioles 4: Tommy Pham hit an RBI single with two outs in the 10th and Tampa Bay won its fifth straight. The Rays held their narrow lead atop the AL wild-card race. At 81-58, Tampa Bay is 23 games over .500 for the first time since the end of the 2010 season. Baltimore’s Mark Trumbo hit a two-run double, marking his first RBIS since Aug. 15, 2018. Trumbo was playing for the first time this season after being out with a knee injury.

Cardinals 3, Giants 1: Adam Wainwright tossed seven scoreless innings and Kolten Wong delivered a run-scoring triple to lead St. Louis. The Cardinals have won 10 of 12 to stretch their lead over the Cubs in the NL Central to 31⁄2 games. Mauricio Dubon hit his first major league homer for San Francisco, which has lost six of seven. Braves 6, Blue Jays 3: Josh Donaldson and Johan Camargo hit two-run homers as Atlanta won its fifth straight. Randal Grichuk and pinch-hitter Rowdy Tellez homered for Toronto, marking the first time in 30 career starts that the Braves’ Mike Soroka allowed more than one in a game.

Kyle Schwarber had a three-run triple to highlight a five-run seventh, and Chicago snapped a 24-inning scoreless streak. The Cubs remained 31⁄2 games behind St. Louis in the NL Central. Chicago starter Kyle Hendricks allowed one run on three hits in six innings. Seattle rookie Justus Sheffield left with the lead after tossing five scoreless innings with a career-high seven strikeouts.

Astros 3, Brewers 2 (10): George Springer’s home run in the 10th, which followed a game-tying homer by Christian Yelich in the ninth, lifted Houston. Astros starter Gerrit Cole struck out 14 in just six innings, matched his season high for the third time. The major-league leader in strikeouts (266) walked two and gave up three hits. Yordan Alvarez hit his 22nd homer for Houston, tying the franchise rookie record set by Carlos Correa in 2015. Yasmani Grandal also homered for Milwaukee. D’backs 14, Padres 7: Arizona’s Josh Rojas, Eduardo Escobar and Christian Walker homered in the sixth inning off converted infielder Javy Guerra.

Notes: Hall of Fame manager Bobby Cox made his first return to Atlanta’s Suntrust Park, five months after suffering a stroke. ... Tigers minor league catcher Chace Numata has died days after being injured in a skateboard­ing accident. He was 27.
