Troy — Lorraine L. O’brien (Vashrow), 65, loving mother of two children passed away at home on Saturday, September 7, 2019.

Born in Troy, Lorraine was the daughter of the late Albert and Janet Vashrow.

Lorraine was a nurse for 30 plus years and practicing nursing in the areas of geriatrics and psychiatry in the crisis center for the N.Y.S. office of Mental Health. Lorraine was married to Charlie O’brien of Saratoga for 25 years until 2001, when they divorced; together they raised their sons, Rory O’brien and Neil O’brien-bosselman.

Lorraine enjoyed spending time at the ocean, collecting art and antiques, expanding her diverse book collection and cultivatin­g and caring for her annual peonies and roses at her former residence in Troy. Above all else, Lorraine enjoyed being a dedicated mother and grandmothe­r until she passed away.

Lorraine is survived by her son, Rory O’brien and his wife Lauren O’brien (Guest), and their son, Shannon O’brien of Syracuse; and her son Neil O’brien-bosselman and his husband, John Bosselman of Scotia.

Calling hours for friends and family will be held on Thursday, September 12, from 4-7 p.m. in New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectad­y Road, Watervliet. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home with interment following in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Virginia Papandrea of Delmar, Mary Ellen Papandrea of Delmar, Anthony Papandrea (Karen) of Voorheesvi­lle, Dr. John Papandrea (Dr. Kate Kennedy) of West Hartford, Conn., Michael Haack of Albany, Daniel Papandrea (Rita) of Albany, Dorothy Welch of Albany, and James Papandrea (Andrea) of Guilderlan­d. Dorothy is also survived by grandchild­ren, Mary Sharp, Anthony Mulligan, Edward Bonacker, Eric Papandrea, Dominick and Mary Katherine Papandrea, and Michelle and Matthew Papandrea. Great-grandchild­ren, Taylor and Marissa Sharp, Samantha and Matthew Mulligan, and Cora Papandrea. Nieces, Kathleen (Michael) and Angela (James) Mccormick.

We wish to thank the staff at the Teresian House Nursing Home for their kind and compassion­ate care of our beloved mother this past year. Also a special thanks to the Community Hospice at St. Peter’s Hospital for their kindness to our family during her final hours.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Thursday, September 12, at 12 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home prior to the service on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to the Community Hospice, American Heart Associatio­n, or the charity of their choice.

Redick and Edward J. (Eileen Squiers) Redick; grandchild­ren, James Redick (Sarah), Jamie Lynn Downs (Michael), Afton Redick Staples (Justin); as well as her great-grandchild­ren, James, Andrew and Ryan Redick, Kate and Leo Downs and Emma Rose Staples. She is also survived by her siblings, Daniel Burns, Geraldine Lemley and Sister Jean Albert, CSJ. Rosemary was also predecease­d by her grandson Josef Redick; and her siblings, Helen Singer, John Burns, Mary Ballato, Agnes Conroy, William Donald Burns, Virginia Daley and Joseph Burns.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, September 12, from 10-11 a.m. in the St. Francis of Assisi Parish South End Site, 95 Fourth Ave. (at Franklin St), Albany. Rosemary’s funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at the conclusion of the visitation. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
