Playoff positions set to be decided

Key games pepper slate in Week 7 that will help set up postseason play

The Week 7 schedule represents the final week of the regular season for teams in Class A, B and C.

A few division races are settled, but many are up for grabs this week. Among the most important games on the schedule include Burnt Hills at Queensbury (Class A Grasso), Holy Trinity at Schalmont (Class B Reinfurt), Cambridge/salem at Granville (Class C North) and Fonda at Stillwater (Class C Central).

CLASS AA

■ 1. Shaker (6-0, Last week, No. 1): The Blue Bison, ranked No. 8 in the state, improved to 5-0 in Class A A play with a 55-6 decision over Schenectad­y.

■ 2. Shenendeho­wa (5-1, LW No. 2): Duncan Hill, Dyvante Terrelonge and Brandon Fahr each returned an intercepti­on for a touchdown to help fuel a 41-21 victory against CBA.

■ 3. Guilderlan­d (4-2, LW No. 3): Senior quarterbac­k Michael Gitto returned from a broken leg suffered during the summer and completed 7 of 11 passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns as the Dutchmen defeated Saratoga 56-14.

■ 4. Bethlehem (4-2, LW No. 4): The Eagles’ defense limited Burnt Hills to 45 yards of offense in the first half, helping to secure a 25-0 victory over the Spartans. ■ 5. CBA (4-2, LW No. 5): The Brothers attempt to snap a twogame losing streak Friday when

they play at Shaker.

CLASS A

■ 1. Queensbury (6-0, LW No. 1): The Spartans look to lock up a second straight Grasso Division title Saturday when they play host to Burnt Hills in a rematch of the 2018 Super Bowl.

■ 2. Troy (5-1, LW No. 2): Junior running back Xavier Leigh rushed for 152 yards and three touchdowns to help propel the Flying Horses past Columbia 21-6.

■ 3. Averill Park (5-1, LW No. 3): The Warriors withstood a monster performanc­e by Amsterdam running back Peyton Ausfeld (232 yards rushing, three touchdowns) and posted a huge 33-20 Capital Division road win at Lynch Middle School.

■ 4. Ballston Spa (4-2, LW No. 4): The Scotties rolled up 407 yards rushing and scored seven touchdowns on the ground as they generated a 61-21 Grasso Division win against Scotia.

■ 5. Burnt Hills (4-2, LW No. 5): The Spartans seek a fourth consecutiv­e victory at Queensbury on Saturday when the two Grasso Division foes meet.

■ Teams to watch: Amsterdam (4-2), La Salle (4-2)

CLASS B

■ 1. Glens Falls (6-0, LW No. 1): Griffin Woodell ran the ball nine times for 242 yards and added an 8-yard touchdown catch to help the Indians collect a 47-8 victory at Broadalbin-perth.

■ 2. Holy Trinity (6-0, LW No. 2): Joe Tortello threw six touchdown passes, three each to Nacier Hundley and Noah Foster, to power the Pride past Albany 56-8.

■ 3. Schuylervi­lle (5-1, LW No. 3): The Black Horses limited Cobleskill to 247 yards of offense and posted a 27-19 road win against the Bulldogs.

■ 4. Cobleskill (3-3, LW No. 4): Following back-to-back losses to La Salle and Schuylervi­lle outside division play, the next challenge for the Bulldogs comes in a Reinfurt Division contest at Hudson.

■ 5. Schalmont (4-2, LW No. 5): Quarterbac­k Jake Sanford rushed for 86 yards and three touchdowns and completed five of six passes for 158 yards to help lead the Sabres to a 42-7 victory over Ravena.

CLASS C

■ 1. Cambridge/salem (5-1, LW No. 1): Kaeden Oglivie scored a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter, the second coming on a 97-yard punt return, as the Indians blanked Whitehall 42-0.

■ 2. Stillwater (6-0, LW No. 2): James Galarneau rushed for 136 yards and one touchdown and threw for 125 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Warriors past Mechanicvi­lle 34-7 for the program’s fourth straight Indian Bowl victory.

■ 3. Fonda (6-0, LW No. 3): Senior quarterbac­k John Mancini threw for 190 yards and four touchdowns as the Braves bested Johnstown 26-13.

■ 4. Greenwich (5-1, LW No. 4): The Witches posted their fifth consecutiv­e win by defeating Corinth/fort Edward 41-6.

■ 5. Watervliet (4-2, LW No. 5): The Cannoneers conclude their South Division slate Friday when they entertain Cairo Durham/ Catskill.

■ Team to watch: Voorheesvi­lle (5-2)

CLASS D

■ 1. Warrensbur­g (5-1, LW No. 1): Jesse Griffin scored on a 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, and then added a two-point conversion, as the Burghers rallied past Chatham 8-7.

■ 2. Chatham (4-2, LW No. 2): The Panthers look to improve to 3-0 at home Friday when they play host to Corinth/fort Edward.

■ 3. Whitehall (3-3, LW No. 3): The Railroader­s attempt to halt a two-game losing streak when they take on Cambridge/salem.

■ 4. Corinth/fort Edward (3-3, LW No. 4): The Warhawks had their two-game winning streak halted with a 41-6 setback against Greenwich.

■ 5. Helderberg Valley (1-5, LW No. 5): After producing a total of 19 points through five games, Helderberg Valley posted a 27-14 victory at Cohoes in Week 6.
