Bourdeau steadying influence for Sage
Goalie has 0.92 GAA , 3 shutouts for Gators
Lucas Bourdeau has been a workhorse in goal for the Sage men’s soccer team this season.
The 6-foot, 183-pound sophomore from Castleton and a Maple Hill High graduate, has played all 1,097 minutes and 43 seconds in front of the net for the Gators. They are 6-6 overall and 1-3 in the Empire 8 Conference after dropping a 1-0 league decision to Nazareth on Oct. 5 in Rochester and a 1-0 league game to St. John Fisher on Saturday in Albany.
Bourdeau has given up 11 goals (0.92 goals-against average) and has 46 saves (.807 save percentage) with three shutouts. He played in five games and was 1-1 as a freshman.
Rumsey leads way
College of Saint Rose sophomore Nick Rumsey of Niskayuna (Niskayuna High) finished seventh out of 60 golfers at the college’s Fall Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at Pinehaven Country Club in Guilderland. Rumsey totaled 148 on rounds of 77 and 71. Senior Kyle Adams of Schenectady (CBA) finished 31st with rounds of 79 and 77 for a 156 total while freshman Jack Manning of Halfmoon (Shenendehowa High) was 38th with rounds of 82 and 77 for a 159 total.
Lettko comes up big
Senior Meagan Lettko scored a goal at the 57:47 mark and the RPI women’s soccer team hung on for a 1-0 victory over Skidmore in a Liberty League game on Saturday in Troy. The Engineers are 5-4-2 overall and 2-2-0 in league play. Lettko, from Averill Park and an Averill Park High graduate, has started all 11 games and had the team’s only goal in a 1-1 double-overtime tie with Smith in a nonleague game on Sept. 11 in Northampton, Mass.
Farr leads area trio
Freshman Evan Farr of Saratoga Springs (Saratoga High) has three goals and an assist for seven points for the Union men’s soccer team. The Dutchmen are 9-3 overall and 2-3 in the Liberty League after a 1-0 league victory over Bard on Saturday in Annandale-onhudson. Junior defender Conor Willsie of Averill Park (Averill Park High) has started all 12 games and has picked up an assist while freshman defender Ryan Postlewait of Saratoga Springs (Saratoga High) has started 10 games and has an assist.
Trio helping Skidmore
The Skidmore field hockey team has gotten solid play all season from Sarah Winters and Natalie Metzger but now the Thoroughbreds are getting help from Jordan Mjaatvedt. The senior from Corinth (Corinth High) has five goals and she has scored four of them in the past seven games, with two game-winners, to help Skidmore to go 7-6 overall and 3-0 in the Liberty League. Winters has four goals and six assists for 14 points while defender Metzger has five defensive saves. Both are Niskayuna High graduates.
Gardener aiding Cobleskill
Sophomore forward Chris Gardener of Hudson (Hudson High) has scored five goals and picked up two assists for 12 points with two game-winners for the Cobleskill men’s soccer team. The Fighting Tigers are 7-4-2 overall and 5-1-1 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference after a 2-0 league victory over Penn College on Sunday in Cobleskill. Junior Jacob Bunker of Broadalbin (Broadalbin-perth) has played in 12 games and freshman Andrew Tracy of Cobleskill (Cobleskillrichmondville) has seen action in nine games, both on defense.
A hat trick for Cusack
The Hudson Valley women’s soccer team posted a 6-2 victory over Onondaga CC on Saturday in Syracuse and the Vikings got a big offensive effort from Grace Cusack. The freshman from Lansingburgh (Lansingburgh High) had three goals to lead the way. Freshman Morgan Catlin of West Sand Lake (Averill Park High) chipped in with two goals. HVCC moved to 9-3 on the season with the victory.
Lee best for St. Rose
Senior Nicholas Lee of Glens Falls (Glens Falls High) finished 10th out of 206 runners at the James Early Invitational on Saturday in Westfield, Mass. Lee covered the 8,000-meter (4.97-mile) course in 26:32.74. Teammate Evan Ireland of Beacon finished 13th with a time of 26:37.17. The performance by the pair helped the Golden Knights finish 13th out of 28 schools.
