EAST CHATHAM — Stephen Gates passed from this life on Wednesday, October 16, 2019.

He was born on March 29, 1949, in Chatham to Vivian Estopinal Gates and Louis Gates III. Stephen served in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971, including an extended tour of duty in Vietnam.

Stephen was predecease­d by his parents; his brothers, Robert and Dane (Georgia) Gates; and brother-in-law Howard Hatch. He is survived by his sister Vicki (Howard) Hatch; brothers, Louis (Melanie) Gates IV and William (Mary) Gates; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He will be missed.

A celebratio­n of Stephen’s life is planned for Sunday, November 3, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the family home in East Chatham. Condolence­s may be conveyed at frenchblas­l.com.

Relatives, friends, and members of the Albany Fire Department are invited to visit with Donald’s family on Friday, October 18, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Dreis Funeral Home, 208 North Allen St., Albany. Funeral services on Saturday, October 19, at 9:15 a.m. from the Dreis Funeral Home, thence to the Parish of Mater Christi, 40 Hopewell St., Albany at 10 a.m. where Donald’s funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Interment will immediatel­y follow the Mass in Our Lady Help of Christian’s Cemetery, Glenmont.

Junior and Senior High School and the College of St. Rose and Western Michigan University. Jay then went on to be self employed as a research specialist working with AIG and Zurich Insurance Group.

Jay is survived by his siblings, Mary Lee Amato (Richard), Joellen Parsons (Lowell) and Paul Noonan. Jay is also survived by five nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 21, from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectad­y Road Watervliet, New York 12189. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m.
