Regeneron Pharmaceuticals plans to add to a warehouse and office building to its Red Mill Campus in East Greenbush.

Regeneron Pharmaceuticals plans to expand at its 67.7-acre Red Mill Campus off Columbia Turnpike by adding a 10,000-plus-square-foot warehouse and office building, according to plans filed with the town.

The new construction on Discovery Lane will be an addition to the existing Building 81. The company has proposed 3,570 square feet of warehouse space and 7,315 square feet of office space.

The Town Board will hold a public hearing on the major site plan application at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at Town Hall, 225 Columbia Turnpike.

“They continue to grow. We take that as an indication their success continues to grow as well,” Supervisor Jack Conway said Tuesday.

The planning issues of traffic and stormwater management have been dealt with as part of the overall review for the Red Mill Campus, said Adam Yagelski, the town’s director of planning and zoning.

“From a planning perspective one of the challenges is to balance the implications of growth — traffic and stormwater,” Yagelski said.

“This expansion will provide for 80 new carrels/stations and one private office. Thirty-one of the spaces will be filled by existing employees who are currently located in a trailer on the Red Mill Campus. The remaining 50 spaces will be filled by new employees. As with the Building 85 expansion, the new employees for the Building 81 expansion will be working in shifts,” CHA representatives said in a November letter to the town regarding the project.

Conway described the proposed addition as being fit into a tight location as Regeneron’s expansion has eaten up much of the space at the Red Mill Campus, which also has been called the Discovery Drive Campus. The site has several buildings and a parking garage.

The addition of the 50 positions will bring the Red Mill Campus workforce to about 2,272 employees, according to

the town. Overall, Regeneron has nearly 4,000 employees at three sites in the town. The other two are the Tempel Lane Campus with 1,500 workers at the 120-acre site and nearly 100 more employees at its five-acre 26 Tech Valley Drive site.

Town officials said salaries ty pically start at $65,000. Construction
