Camper weighing options
Siena junior hasn’t settled on decision about NBA draft
Siena men’s basketball star Manny Camper said Monday he’s “still undecided” on whether he’ll withdraw from the NBA draft.
“Nothing new now,” texted Camper, a junior guard/ forward. “Should know something soon.”
The NCA A has pushed back the deadline, which was Wednesday, for underclassmen to pull out of the draft and maintain their college eligibility. NCAA senior vice president for basketball operations Dan Gavitt said last month the new withdrawal date will be established when the NBA determines a timeline for the pre-draft process.
The league has postponed the pre-draft combine and could do the same with the June 25 draft because of the coronavirus pandemic, which has suspended the season for more than two months.
Camper, a first-team all-metro Atlantic Athletic Conference selection, isn’t projected to be taken in the two-round draft. He announced he was testing the waters on April 3. He did not hire an agent.
Camper, from Chestertown, Md., is currently taking an online course at Siena and working out with his trainer.
