The shuttered Boston Market on South Broadway, near the intersection with Circular Street, is being renovated to become a Wellnow urgent care clinic.

Developer Devin Dal Pos, the leader of Laker Development, said Monday the tenant is WellNow, which is working with St. Peter's Health Partners and has opened several clinics in the Capital Region.

Dal Pos' LLC, 204 Saratoga Broadway Partners, paid $1.6 million for the property in December 2019. J. Luke Construction is currently at work on the one-story, 2,832-square-foot building.

A spokesperson for Wellnow said the clinic is expected to open early next year. It will have six treatment rooms. In addition to urgent care, the clinic will offer on-site X-rays and other diagnostic tests, as well as blood work, drug and alcohol screens and physicals. The facility will also provide on-site molecular (PCR) and blood antibody serology COVID -19 testing.

Laker Development works with national and local tenants to fulfill space needs.

"We knew they were looking in the area and (the former restaurant) is an excellent location with high visibility and ease of access," Dal Pos said.

Wellnow is based in Buffalo, and has nearly 40 locations in Illinois and New York, including at least three in the Capital Region — Halfmoon, Latham and Niskayuna. More Wellnow locations are planned for Glens Falls, Rotterdam, Troy, Gloversville, Rensselaer, Glenville, North Greenbush, Amsterdam and Cobleskill.
