Positive COVID-19 cases tick up around the Capital Region

New infections bring spate of directives on monitoring, testing

Albany County Executive Daniel P. Mccoy announced on Friday an increase of 21 new COVID -19 cases while the county also warned of possible exposure at O’slattery ’s Irish Restaurant and Pub in Delmar where a server has tested positive.

Mccoy noted that the county ’s overall case count will fluctuate as records for college students are transferre­d to the county in which they are isolating for their daily monitoring and then transferre­d back to Albany County for the final case count.

Additional­ly, the number of people under mandatory quarantine has jumped to 1,067 from 914. The five-day average for new daily positives also increased to 19.6 from 18.6. There are now 118 active cases in the county, up from 109 Thursday.

Regarding possible exposure at O’slattery ’s, the employee in question mostly waited tables both days last weekend, a county health department announceme­nt said.

The restaurant is at 318 Delaware Ave. Anyone present in O’slattery ’s those days may have been exposed and should consider getting tested, the county stated.

Nursing home case adds to Rensselaer County uptick

The Rensselaer County Health Department confirmed five new COVID -19 cases Friday, including one at the county-run nursing home, according to the county Facebook page.

The new cases include: A 91-year-old woman who is a resident at county ’s Van Rensselaer Manor nursing home in North Greenbush; a 48-year-old Schaghtico­ke woman; an 18year-old Troy woman; a 29year-old Brunswick woman; and a 35-year-old Schaghtico­ke man.

The new cases bring the total number of confirmed cases to 1,038. There are now 61 active cases. Ten new cases have been cleared for recovery, bringing to 935 the number of cases cleared to date.

There are now 11 residents hospitaliz­ed for COVID -19, including one in ICU. There are now 715 residents in monitor quarantine, including 398 due to exposure and 317 due to travel.

There have been 65,666 tests administer­ed, including 1,306 tests recorded Thursday.

There have been 42 deaths of residents due to COVID -19, with the latest death announced on Sept. 5.

Clifton Commons basketball players asked to self monitor

Saratoga County officials are urging people who played basketball Oct. 10 at Clifton Commons to self monitor for symptoms of COVID -19 after a person who played basketball without a mask tested positive.

The possible exposure — which the county classifies as high-risk — took place between noon and 3 p.m.

County officials said the indi

vidual who tested positive did not know the other players.

In addition to monitoring for symptoms, people who were at the Commons during that period should contact a health care provider to get a diagnostic test.

County officials said a coronaviru­s case is tied to a local golf course.

An employee who worked in the pro shop at the Fairways of Halfmoon, 17 Johnson Road, Halfmoon, on Oct. 7, later tested positive.

The employee worked in the shop from 6:30 a.m. to noon but county officials said he wore a mask at all times and the risk of exposure is low.

People who think they might have come into contact with the employee should monitor for signs of COVID -19 and contact their health care provider for a test.

Schenectad­y County reported 8 new COVID -19 cases on Friday.there are currently three hospitaliz­ed with the virus, while 10 people currently in the hospital are under investigat­ion.

Those in quarantine for possible exposure number 419, while 61 are in isolation.

So far, lab-confirmed recoveries total 1,309, while 50 people who tested positive for COVID -19 have died.
