Barrett, Toppin star as Knicks open preseason

DETROIT — R.J. Barrett scored 15 points and No. 8 overall pick Obi Toppin finished with 11 points and seven rebounds in his debut as the Knicks won their preseason opener Friday 90-84 over Detroit.

More NBA: Nikola Vucevic had 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead Orlando over Atlanta 116-112. Shen grad Kevin Huerter had eight points and three assists for the Hawks. ... John Wall, who missed two years with heel and Achilles injuries, had 13 points and nine assists in 19 minutes in his Rockets debut as Houston defeated Chicago 125-104.
