Shiffrin captures record 6th world championsh­ip

CORTINA D’AMPEZZO, Italy — Mikaela Shiffrin cemented her claim as the best American Alpine skier ever by winning her record-breaking sixth world championsh­ip

Monday.

Shiffrin won the combined event to reach the milestone. After a third place in the super- G, she rallied in the slalom for the win. She had been tied with Ted Ligety for most titles by an American. Petra Vlhova won silver and Michelle Gisin took bronze.
