Knicks storm back from 17 down to win
Alec Burks scored 15 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter and the New York Knicks beat the Washington Wizards 106-102 on Thursday night to sweep the two-game set.
RJ Barrett added 24 points, 10 rebounds and five assists for the Knicks. Immanuel Quickley had 16 points.
Bradley Beal had 26 points and nine assists for the Wizards, but shot just 8-for-23.
Two days after being in control throughout in a 131-113 victory, the Knicks trailed by 17 midway through the third quarter and never led until the fourth.
They won by outscoring the Wizards 39-24 in the final period, with Barrett making a 3pointer and then a tying threepoint play with 4:45 to play. Quickley followed with a 3pointer and Julius Randle capped an 11-0 run that put New York ahead 96-91 with 2:54 remaining.
Trail Blazers 125, Heat 122: Damian Lillard made three free throws with one second remaining for the final margin, and Portland survived a wild finish to beat short-handed Miami.
Clippers 98, Spurs 85: Reggie Jackson scored 28 points, Paul George had 24 points and 13 rebounds and short-handed Los Angeles rallied in the second half.
Trades: The Mavericks acquired veteran shooting guard JJ Redick and Italian forward Nicolo Melli from New Orleans in a trade that sent power forward James Johnson, small forward Wesley Iwundu and a second-round draft choice to the Pelicans . ... The Trail Blazers acquired shooting guard Norman Powell in a trade with the Raptors in exchange for Gary Trent Jr. and Rodney Hood . ... The Hornets acquired guard Brad Wanamaker from the Warriors. Obituary: Stan Albeck, the former San Antonio, Cleveland, New Jersey and Chicago head coach during a long NBA career, died Thursday in hospice care at son John’s home. He was 89.
