ALBANY — After a long illness, Barbara Ann (Coles) Pounds, "Nana," 81 of Albany, was called to her eternal resting place on March 27, 2021.

Her parents, Thomas Coles and Lela (Coles) Simmons, death precedes her; as well as her husband Ollie Pounds Jr., and son Anthony "Tony" Pounds. She is survived by her stepsister­s, Velma, Burnetta, Margaret, and Gloria; stepbrothe­rs, Michael and Alvin of Washington, D.C.; her son Ollie Jerome Pounds; her daughters, Sandra (Pounds) Mcfadden (William) and Annetta (Pounds) White (William); her grandchild­ren, Brandee, Sitara, Daylon, Cameron, Bryson (Shanee), Telisa, and Clayton; and brother-in-law, Carl Lovelady. Twelve great-grandchild­ren, two great-great-grandchild­ren, other relatives, and her Albany Adult Learning Center family.

On April 10, 1939, Barbara entered this world in her hometown of Stevenson, Ala. She married Ollie Pounds Jr. of South Pittsburgh, Tenn., and moved to New York, where they started a family. After many years of dedicated service, Barbara retired from the Albany City School District. She was known for nurturing her grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren and frequent family gatherings. She loved bowling and playing bingo, and working on crossword puzzles and computer games. She enjoyed trips to OTB and the Saratoga Raceway with her dear friend Rose. She enjoyed baking 7-Up pound cakes and sweet potato pies for the family. Nana was the matriarch of the family, always there for everyone and will be deeply missed.

A viewing will be held on April 5, from 9-11 a.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie. Interment will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park, 2150 Central Ave.,
