Red Raiders allow first goal of season but rout Bengals

The Mechanicvi­lle boys’ soccer team allowed its first goal of the season, but still coasted to a 6-1 win over host Tamarac on Friday in a Wasaren League clash.

T.J. Bisallion netted a hat trick and Colin Mcnutt added a pair of goals to lead the Red Raiders.

This was the closest game Mechanicvi­lle has played to date. The Red Raiders had won three games by 12-0 scores, one 11-0 and another by 10-0 mark coming into Friday’s contest.

Football: Dan Quinn threw four touchdowns as Niskayuna routed Scotia 44-26 at home. Cole Wade gave the Silver Warriors a 6-0 lead with a 12-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Then Quinn went to work. Leo O’brien took a screen 48 yards for a score early in the second quarter and Tyler Borwhat caught a 29yard touchdown from Quinn to give Niskayuna 20-0 lead at halftime. Quinn lofted a 25yard pass to O’brien who caught the ball in traffic and outraced the Scotia defense for a 57-yard score. Borwhat caught another touchdown later in the third quarter to blow open the game. Decillius Blankenshi­p had a 75-yard touchdown reception for Scotia . ... Mechanicvi­lle held off Johnstown 14-12 in a Class C matchup. Luci D’ambro’s touchdown run in the fourth quarter put the Red Raiders ahead 14-6 but Johnstown’s Chase Benton hauled in a TD pass in the closing minutes to pull the Sir Bills within two at 14-12. But after a penalty pushed Johnstown back, the Sir Bills gametying two-point try was stuffed to send Mechanicvi­lle home with the win . ... Cohoes shutout host Helderberg Valley 6-0 for its first victory of the season in a Class D game.

Girls’ volleyball: Columbia rallied from a set down to beat Troy, 25-18, 23-25, 22-25, 25-16, 25-11. Arricca Silliman had 42 assists and four kills for the Blue Devils (4-3). Miranda King added 12 kills and 11 digs.

Girls’ soccer: Teagan Breton scored all three goals in Catholic Central’s 3-0 win over Cobleskill. Maddie Finn made two saves to earn the shutout.
