Man drowns while fishing in Hudson

SCHAGHTICO­KE — A fisherman fell into the Hudson River Thursday in the town of Schaghtico­ke and drowned, State Police said.

Zachary J. Esposito, 27, of Halfmoon, was fishing near River Road in Schaghtico­ke before falling into the river at around 2:35 p.m., police said. Police received a report that a man had fallen into the Hudson River and not surfaced.

Police, fire companies and the Department of Environmen­tal Conservati­on searched the area and found Esposito dead in the water. The incident remains under investigat­ion, State Police said.
