Desanto rallies Albany Academy

Kimbler gets win as Cadets beat Bethlehem 6-5

Nico Desanto drove in the tying and winning runs as Albany Academy remained undefeated with a 6-5 comeback win over Bethlehem in nonleague baseball action.

Two Cadets walked to start the seventh inning rally. Desanto came up with runners on second and third and two out when he looped a fly ball that glanced off the right fielder’s glove.

Albany Academy starter Robert Barron allowed five hits and two earned runs, striking out eight. He gave way to Teige Kimbler, who got the last out and the win on Desanto’s big hit in the bottom of the inning. Kimbler also scored two runs.

More baseball: Carter Maxon took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and finished with nine strikeouts as Averill Park crushed Schalmont 11-0 in nonleague action. Mike Wormuth hit a three-run double.

Jerek Hobb broke up Maxon’s no-hit bid . ... Vincent Vendetti hit two home runs as Burnt Hills beat Shenendeho­wa 7-3 in a Suburban Council game . ... La Salle improved to 5-0 on the season by beating Ravena 11-1 on Thursday. Connor Mauro had three singles and two RBIS to lead the offense. Jeff Maddalone got the win.

Softball: Kelsey Higgins and Michelle Osborn both hit two-run home runs as Shenendeho­wa topped Burnt Hills 15-3 in five innings.

Boys’ lacrosse: Greyson Vorgang and Brock Behrman scored four goals apiece to spark Niskayuna to a 19-10 Suburban Council win over Saratoga . ...

Connor White set a single-game scoring record for Queensbury as he netted 10 goals in the Spartans’ 27-2 rout of Scotia.

Girls’ lacrosse: Carly Wise scored seven goals as Saratoga topped Niskayuna 13-4 in a Suburban Council game. Isabel Burke added three goals and two assists in the win. Kylan Rhude made 14 saves for the Blue Streaks . ... Gabby Rivera had nine goals and three assists in Columbia’s 20-5 Suburban Council win over Ballston Spa.
