Helping out in Troy
Sidewalk Warriors of Troy served local needs on May 6, when 98 people were given hot meals, personal items, and staples such as bags of potatoes and apples and milk. A Mother’s Day gift table supplied jewelry, wallets, purses, cosmetics, and greeting cards for those who wanted to surprise mothers. Bicycles, both new or refurbished, were donated, for children whose parents could not afford them.
Sidewalk Warriors volunteers run a pop-up distribution site at the Roarke Center/st. Anthony’s parking lot at 107 Fourth St. in Troy each Thursday. Setup begins at 5 p.m. and distribution starts at 6 p.m. Meals and necessities are provided to those who are homeless, food insecure, or who run short at the end of a month. Volunteers and donations are welcomed.
