A 4S4 Lifeannoun­ced a partnershi­p with Tease Beauty Bar and Salon on Sunday, May 16, to offer “Haircuts for Heroes.” A free haircut or hot shave will be offered at their salon compliment­ary to all law enforcemen­t, correction officers, military and veteran members of the community. Haircuts for Heroes will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 40 Main St., South Glens Falls. Call Tease at 518-636-5717 to register a spot in advance.

A Glens Falls Farmers Market has been awarded $20,000 in Double Up Food Bucks from Field & Fork Network’s Double Up NY for the 2021 Market Season from July 1 to Oct. 31. The program doubles the value of federal nutrition assistance dollars spent at the market, helping people bring home more locally grown fruits and vegetables.

A Last weekend, the Eastern New York Region of the American Red Cross and community partners helped 114 families protect themselves against home fires as part of a national Sound the Alarm effort. On Saturday, volunteers met with residents by appointmen­t, outside homes, to share fire safety informatio­n and help them create an escape plan. Volunteers

have also met virtually with families to review fire safety steps for their household.

A Hannaford Supermarke­ts Director of Operations Andy Willette presented the National Alliance on Mental Illness-new York State Executive Director Wendy Burch with a $100,000 donation at the Hannaford Supermarke­t in Latham on Tuesday, May 11. The donation will help support NAMI-NYS’S efforts to raise awareness and conduct outreach around mental health and illness throughout the state.

A The Community Care Pop Up project, started by Youth2 (www.youthsquar­ed.org), a volunteer group in Saratoga Springs, included a March Warm Sock and Toothbrush Drive followed by the April CDTA Bus Pass Donation Drive. Thanks to many contributo­rs, Youth2 collected more than 1,000 pairs of socks and an equal number of toothbrush­es. The Snacpack Program distribute­d these items. And $1,100-worth of bus passes (139) were donated. Shelters of Saratoga, Saratoga County Mental Healthyout­h and Family Services Team, Franklin Community Center and Lifeworks (EOC) will be giving them out.
