State facilities offer overnight stay rewards with online bookings
People who stay at campgrounds operated by the state can earn points for each overnight stay, which can reduce the cost of future visits.
Airline and hotel chains have long offered them and now New York is offering loyalty points to campers.
Under the “loyalty/reward” program, people who stay at campgrounds operated by the state Department of Environmental Conservation and Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic
Preservation can earn points for each overnight stay, which can reduce the cost of future visits.
The new program dovetails with the start of the online reservation period for the 2022 camping season.
Each dollar spent on an overnight stay will earn 10 points toward future visits.
Every 100 points is worth $1. Redeemed points will be deducted from the customer’s account when the future reservation is booked.
Occupancy at state campgrounds is already high but there still are spots available, especially on weekdays and non-peak periods.
DEC and the Office of Parks have 120 campgrounds including 15,000 campsites for tents and RVS. There also are more than 800 cabins, cottages, yurts, and a lighthouse
