— Bernardine "Berry" Geier passed away in Port Orange, Fla. at the age of 93 on June 13, 2021, after a brief illness. Berry was a lifelong resident of the city of Rensselaer.

She graduated from Rensselaer High School in 1946. On October 9, 1948, she married the love of her life Joseph L. Geier and together they raised two children.

Aside from raising her children, Berry was employed by Millea, Siegal, and Bartlett Law firm for many years. She also worked for Don and Fran’s coffee shop and Friendly Home Parties.

Berry enjoyed reading, watching her beloved New York Yankees and watching Hallmark and Lifetime movies. She watched her soap operas daily and always kept up on the story lines. She was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching her children and grandchild­ren play their sport of choice throughout the years. Berry was an avid animal lover, and she was happiest when spending time with family and friends. She adored her grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren, always looking forward to any time spent with them.

Berry was predecease­d by her parents John and Ellen Nolan; her husband Joseph L. Geier; and her siblings, Anna Mae Stocklas, Margaret Scambellur­i, John Nolan, Patricia Eldridge, Eileen Schoonmake­r, Francis (Marion) Nolan and Geraldine (William) Scharoun. Berry was also predecease­d by her grandson David J. Geier.

Survivors include her sister Joan Nolan Adam; brother-in-law Edward (Earline) Geier; her son John (Patricia) Geier of Rensselaer; and her daughter Kathleen A. Geier of Port Orange Fla. She is also survived by her grandchild­ren, Dina (Scott) Douglas and Jennifer (Brian) Deangelis; great-grandchild­ren, Kaelah Douglas, Emily Geier, Avery Schultz, Amelia Deangelis; and her step-great-grandson Lorenzo Deangelis, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be in the Church of St. Mary at Clinton Heights, Columbia Turnpike Friday, June 25, 2021, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer Thursday, June 24, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush.
