Priests ordained in Albany diocese

Bishop Scharfenbe­rger welcomes five deacons in Rite of Ordination

On June 19, five deacons were ordained to the priesthood for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany by Bishop Edward B. Scharfenbe­rger at a Mass and Rite of Ordination at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

With informatio­n provided by the diocese, they are:

Matthew Duclos, 30, of Clifton Park and Corpus Christi parish in Round Lake attended Shenendeho­wa public schools, Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, St. John’s University in Queens, Pontifical Gregorian University and Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas—angelicum in Rome and will return to Italy after ordination to attend Pontifical Gregorian University. Deacon Duclos attended seminary at Cathedral Seminary House of Formation in Douglaston, and Pontifical North American College in Rome. His parish assignment­s have included Blessed Sacrament, Albany; St. Patrick’s, Ravena, and St. Mary’s, Coxsackie; St. Edmund of Canterbury, Loughton, United Kingdom; St. John the Evangelist and St. Anthony, Schenectad­y; and St. Mary’s, Glens Falls. He celebrated his first Mass at Corpus Christi in Round Lake on Sunday, June 20.

Kyle Gorenski, 39, of Narraganse­tt, R.I., attended public schools there and later the Community College of Rhode Island and Rhode Island College. He served in the U.S. Army and as a Rhode Island state trooper before entering the seminary at Our Lady of Providence Seminary in Rhode Island and then St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore. His parish assignment­s have included Church of the Holy Trinity, Cohoes; Our Lady of the Valley, Middleburg­h; Blessed Sacrament, Albany; St. Ambrose, Latham; St. Isaac Jogues, Chestertow­n; and St. Clement’s, Saratoga Springs. He celebrated his first Mass at his home parish of Holy Trinity in Cohoes on Saturday, June 19.

Daniel Mchale, 40, grew up in Stuyvesant, and his home parish is Holy Trinity in Hudson. He attended Ichabod Crane High School, Mount St. Mary College in Newburgh, and the University at Albany. He went on to teach for 10 years at Mount St. Mary and SUNY New Paltz before entering Pope St. John XXIII Seminary in Weston, Mass. His parish assignment­s have included St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, Windham; Mater Christi, Albany; St. Thomas the Apostle, Delmar; Sacred Heart, Lake George; and the Catholic Community of Northern Columbia County. He celebrated his first Mass at St. Mary’s in Hudson June 19.

Nathaniel Resila, 29, of Rotterdam's home parish is St. Madeline Sophie in Guilderlan­d. He attended Mohonasen public schools, Niagara University, St. John’s University in Queens. He completed seminary studies at Mundelein Seminary in Mundelein, Ill. His parish assignment­s have included St. Ann’s, Fort Ann; Our Lady of Hope, Whitehall; Holy Trinity, Cohoes; Holy Trinity, Hudson; St. Kateri Tekakwitha, Schenectad­y; St. Mary’s, Ballston Spa, and, while in seminary, St. Joseph’s in Chicago. He celebrated his first Mass at Historic St. Mary’s in Albany on Sunday, June 20.

Stephen Yusko, 30, is from Hudson and is a member of Holy Trinity parish there. He attended Hudson High School, SUNY Oneonta, and Pontifical Gregorian University and the Pontifical University of St Thomas Aquinas, both in Rome. Deacon Yusko attended seminary at Cathedral Seminary in Douglaston and Pontifical North American College in Rome. His parish assignment­s have included Historic St. Mary’s, Albany; St. Theresa’s, Windham; and Mater Christi, Albany. He celebrate his first Mass at St. Mary’s in Hudson on Sunday, June 20.
