Burglary attempt leads to arrest
GUILDERLAND — A Rensselaer man is facing felony charges after police say he tried to break into a Guilderland CVS.
Town police say they responded to a burglar alarm at the retail drug chain at 2040 Western Ave. at around 2:22 a.m. When they got there they said they saw a man at the rear of the building, who then fled on foot.
After a brief pursuit, they took the 39-year-old man into custody, according to a news release issued Friday.
He was charged with three felonies: attempted burglary, criminal mischief and tampering with physical evidence. He was also charged with resisting arrest and possession of burglar’s tools, both misdemeanors.
The man, who police said was on parole for burglary, was arraigned and jailed.
