’Cats score four in the fourth

Tri-city used a big inning and quality starting pitching to beat New Jersey 6-2 Thursday in a Frontier League game in Little Falls, N.J.

The ’Cats plated four runs in fourth inning. Willy Garcia and Phil Caulfield each singled in a run, and Daniel Angulo added an RBI double.

Tri-city tacked on two unearned runs in the ninth.

Valleycats starter Austin Cline was solid even if he did not factor into the decision. Cline’s line: five hits, five strikeouts, two walks and no earned runs in 42⁄3 innings.

Reliever Francisco Jimenez allowed both runs, but was credited with the win.

Jackals starter Jared Milch allowed four runs in five innings and struck out six.

Willy Garcia was the only Tri-city player with a multi-hit game with two hits.
