The annual Siro’s Cup to benefit the Center for Disability Services will be held on Wednesday, July 14. The fundraiser, held on the eve of opening day at the Saratoga Race Course, begins at 6:30 p.m. at Siro’s Restaurant, 168 Lincoln Ave., Saratoga Springs. At 7:30 p.m., there will be a brief presentation ceremony honoring the 2021 Siro’s Cup Honorees- Mary Lou Whitney (posthumously) and Chef Tom Dillon (posthumously) and recognizing the 2020 Siro’s Cup Awardees-tiz the Law, Sackatoga Stable, Jack Knowlton, Barclay Tagg, Robin Smullin, Heather Smullin and Manny Franco. Reservations with payment and proof of vaccination are $150 per person and are required prior to the night of the event. There will be no walk-ins. Regional athletes with disabilities from STRIDE Adaptive Sports crossed the 5K finish line at Jennings Landing in Albany on June 19. A group of regional businesses led by presenting sponsor American National Insurance and individual donors helped the event raise $25,000 supporting sports and recreation programs for participants with disabilities. Two Cobleskill-richmondville High School graduates are recipients of scholarships from an area car club. Evan Carpenter and Destiny Honsinger, graduates of the Capital Region BOCES Automotive Trades program, were awarded the Schoharie Valley Region Antique Auto Car Association 2021 Scholarship. Each student received a Snap-on gift.
The Blessed Virgin Mary of Czestochowa National Catholic Parish of Latham will provide about 120 hot Polish dinners to the Ballston
Spa Veteran and Community Housing Coalition to distribute to homeless veterans. As part of its summer Polish food sale, the church gave online shoppers the opportunity to purchase a hot Polish dinner for a homeless veteran, agreeing to match the number of donated meals.
The Hart-cluett Museum was awarded a Vision Grant by Humanities New York, a nonprofit agency dedicated to using the humanities to strengthen community bonds and civic engagement. The $1,500 grant supports planning for a public forum which will be held in the fall of this year.
