Doud, Catherine M.

— Catherine M. Doud, 96, formerly of South Street, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at the Masonic Care Home in Utica.

Born in Boonville, Catherine was the daughter of the late Arthur and Lillian Bauer Johnson and the loving wife of Merle H. Doud who died in November of 2020. The couple would have celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary this past Saturday.

Moving to Waterford in 1954, Catherine resided most of her life in the Village of Waterford. She had worked as an assistant at the Waterford Public Library and was a member of the Literacy Volunteers of America. She was always very active in the Living Hope United Methodist Church in Waterford and belonged to the United Methodist Women. She was also a 50-year member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (Waterford Women’s Club) and a former volunteer board member at Wesley Health Care Center.

Catherine loved spending time with her family and especially with her husband. Together, they had made eight cross-country trips taking their time to camp and sightsee along the way. She also was an avid reader, and she loved to write journals, diaries and short stories.

Catherine is survived by her loving daughters, Carolyn E. Doud (Jonathan D. Pierce) and Janet E. Doud all of Albany as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her sister, Madeline Pritchard.

Funeral services will be on Friday at 10 a.m. from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St., Waterford and at 10:30 a.m. at the Living Hope United Methodist Church in Waterford. Interment will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-6 p.m.
