SARATOGA SPRINGS — Peter P. Prince, 81 of Saratoga Springs, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2021, in his home with his loving wife Patti by his side.

Peter was born on June 12, 1940, in Troy. He graduated from Troy High School in 1958. He continued his education at SUNY Buffalo studying art education. He received his M.A. in studio art and extended his graduate studies at SUNY Albany and Syracuse University. Peter taught art education for 33 years, retiring from the Shenendeho­wa Central School District in 1995.

He and his wife enjoyed traveling the northeast and exhibiting at art shows during the summer months. He was a gifted and talented artist in many mediums including water color, pencil drawing, silk screening, sculpting, and jewelry making. Peter owned and operated an art gallery in Greenwich Village in the early ’60s and The Sunflower Art Gallery in Malta in the mid-70s. Although he closed both galleries, Peter proudly displayed his artwork in his Saratoga Springs home.

Peter enjoyed playing many sports and watching The Buffalo Bills! He loved to downhill ski, began karate later in life and would spend endless hours in his flower and vegetable gardens.

Peter’s greatest passion in life was his family. He loved spending time with his wife, traveling to Europe, Alaska and countless trips to Maine. He adored his children and eight grandchild­ren, he was an esteemed Papa, his proudest title ever.

He was predecease­d by his parents, Harry and Mary Prince of Troy; his sister Grace Bedrosian and brother-in-law Jim Bedrosian of Oradell, N.J.; his brother John Prince of Dauphin Island, Ala.; and his father-in-law Patrick Didomenico of Mechanicvi­lle.

Peter is survived by his wife, Patricia (Didomenico) of 43 years; his mother-in-law Ruth Didomenico of Mechanicvi­lle; his daughter Laura (Tom) Lane of Washington, Utah; his son Peter M. Prince (Rebecca) of Brookline, N.H.; and daughter Sara (Ryan) Fenton of Ballston Lake. He is survived by his eight grandchild­ren, Kaycie, Ben, Matthew and Cara Lane, Eben Young, Grace Prince, and Chloe and Lia Fenton.

Peter was one of a kind; a loving husband, father and Papa, a man of integrity, class and character with a fantastic sense of humor that always brought a smile. He will be missed by many and never forgotten.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 9-11 a.m. on Friday, July 2, followed by an 11 a.m. funeral home service at William J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs. Burial will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery, Weible Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Peter’s name to the Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY, 12866 or to the Franklin Community Center Food Pantry, 10 Franklin St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
