Garden party to support county recovery kitchen
SPENCERTOWN — Planting Seeds to End Hunger, a fundraiser event, will be held 3 to 5 p.m. July 10 at a private garden in the town of Austerlitz.
The Columbia County Recovery Kitchen will host the event to support its efforts in delivering healthy meals to the county’s food insecure.
The fundraiser will feature guest speakers, gift baskets of Hudson Valley treats and hors d’oeuvres by Recovery Kitchen Chef Jamie Parry. Active since April 2020, the Recovery Kitchen has delivered more than
42,000 meals to people in need. Tickets cost $125 to $500. Deadline for ticket purchase is Monday.

Library offers digital camera workshop
COLONIE — Learn the ins and outs of your digital camera at a threesession workshop 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays July 22, 29 and Aug. 5.
The first workshop will be in person at the William K. Sanford Colonie Town Library, 629 Albany-shaker Road; the second and third will be on Zoom.
Nathaniel Heyer will lead participants as they explore digital camera settings, learn about white balance and EV settings and how to use them to create beautiful photos.

Fundraiser gala to benefit health center
SARATOGA SPRINGS — “School Spirit” is the theme for Saratoga Hospital’s 39th annual gala Aug. 4 on the grounds of Saratoga Casino Hotel, 342 Jefferson St. A live auction will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets cost $175 a person; $125 for ages 21 to 35. Proceeds benefit the
hospital’s Saratoga Community Health Center.

Pinnace replica returns to Kingston
KINGSTON — Kalmar Nyckel, the Tall Ship of Delaware, returns to the Hudson River Maritime Museum in Kingston from Saturday, Aug. 21 to Saturday Aug. 28 offering sailing adventures and deck tours.
Passengers are invited to haul lines, set sails, or enjoy time on an authentic re-creation of a 17thcentury Dutch pinnace. Sailing tickets are $60 for adults and $40 for ages 17 and younger. Passengers should bring a mask if they want to participate. For a schedule, visit www.hrmm.org/kalmarnyckel.
Van Buren site opens for programs
KINDERHOOK — Martin Van Buren National Historic Site will open for summer programs and tours on Sunday,july 4. The visitor center tent will be open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Restroom facilities are available, but the museum shop remains closed.
Guided tours of Lindenwald, Martin Van Buren’s home, will be offered daily at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. Tours last 45 minutes and cover the interior of the home, the Van Buren family, and history of the site. Sign up

Fonda to celebrate new park project
FONDA — The village of Fonda Recreational & Waterfront Park dedicates its new facilities and park renovations together with the After the 4th Celebration July 9.
The celebration commences with a parade at 6 p.m.
It will go from Wemple Avenue to the Park Street Memorial Wall. At 6:30
p.m., village officials will dedicate the Memorial Wall to military, law enforcement, fire & EMS. Events, including food, a
concert, and fireworks, will continue until 11 p.m.
Summer food program to begin
The Albany School District is participating in the summer food service program, with free meals for all children 18 and younger at eight schools in the city.
