Doncic leads Slovenia to another victory

KAUNAS, Lithuania — Luka Doncic and Slovenia are two wins from the Tokyo Olympics. Doncic had 18 points and 10 assists, Klemen Prepelic scored 17 points and Slovenia rolled past Poland 112-77 on Thursday to clinch a spot in Saturday’s Olympic qualifying tournament semifinals in that region.

More basketball: Jonas Valanciuna­s had 15 points, and Lithuania beat South Korea 96-57 and earned its spot in the semifinals . ... Germany erased an early 10-point deficit to reach the semifinals of the qualifier in Croatia, eliminatin­g Russia 69-67 . ... Croatia earned its semifinal berth by holding off Tunisia 75-70, behind 27 points from Mario Hezonja . ... Italy used a 19-0 run in the second half to beat Puerto Rico 90-83 in a matchup of teams that already knew they were headed to Saturday’s semifinals . ... Albany Empire: COVID-19 capacity limitation­s at Times Union Center have been lifted for the July 17 home game against the Jersey Flight and all other home games for the remainder of the 2021 season. There will be no requiremen­ts for proof of vaccinatio­n, nor will children be required to show testing proof. CDC mask requiremen­t for anyone who has not been fully vaccinated is still in place.

Athletics: Two-time world champion Karsten Warholm broke a 29-year-old world record in the 400-meter hurdles in the Diamond League meet. The 25-yearold finished in 46.70 seconds to break the mark of 46.78 set by American Kevin Young in 1992.

Tennis: The WTA and ATP tours both canceled tournament­s scheduled in China and Japan later this year — although the women’s circuit said its WTA Finals are “still under discussion.” The WTA said it had to scrap plans for events in Asia because of “continued COVID-19 concerns and travel restrictio­ns.”

WNBA: Brionna Jones scored a career-high 34 points on 14for-19 shooting and Connecticu­t beat Indiana 86-80.
