- Sports staff

The Albany Dutchmen extended their winning streak to four straight games with a 12-4 victory over the host Amsterdam Mohawks on Tuesday in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League clash at Shuttleworth Park in Amsterdam.

Albany held a 6-4 lead but broke the game open with six more runs, keyed by an Isaac Humphrey three-run home run, in the seventh inning.

The Dutchmen jumped out to an early 3-0 advantage thanks to a Ty Gallagher RBI single in the third inning and a Humphrey sacrifice fly along with Christian Kondo’s RBI single in the fourth before Amsterdam tied the game in the bottom half of the fourth on Kai Roberts’ three-run homer.

Albany answered with three in the fifth inning, which included a pair of RBI doubles by Gallagher and Mike Handel along with an Evan Fox RBI walk with the bases-loaded.

Matt Shaw’s RBI double cut Albany’s lead to 6-4 for Amsterdam in the sixth before Humphrey and the Dutchmen offense erupted in the seventh to run away with the win.

Michael Demartino allowed no runs while striking out seven in three innings to close out the win for Albany, which hosts the Mohawk Valley Diamonddawgs on Wednesday at 6:35 p.m.
