— Joseph F. Rizzo passed away suddenly at home in Latham with his wife Norma at his side on July 6, 2021.

Born on October 21, 1932, in Albany, he was the son of the late Felix and Emma Tozzi Rizzo.

Joseph served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1954 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He graduated from Christian Brothers Academy at the age of 16. He attended Siena College for two years. Joseph worked at the former Schaefer Brewery, then the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance for 18.5 years. He had a love of sports and was an avid fan of the N.Y. Yankees and the N.Y. Giants. He enjoyed Manhattans and playing Bocci.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Norma (Mink); his sister Michelina Forte; his three children, John (Laurie), Mark (Dawn), and Elena (Jeffrey); his four granddaugh­ters, Ashley, Alexandra, Nicole, and Kaylee; and by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Joseph’s family on Friday, July 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Lasak & Gigliotti Funeral Home, 208 North Allen St., Albany. Please only use the rear parking lot doorway; unvaccinat­ed individual­s must wear a mask and practice social distancing. Funeral services on Saturday, July 10, at 11:30 a.m. in St. Ambrose Church, Latham, where his funeral Mass will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal will be held in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands, immediatel­y following the funeral Mass.
