Red Sox use power in rout of Phillies

Hernandez, Martinez, Devers all homer in 9th straight Fenway win

Kike Hernandez led off the Red Sox’s first with a homer, J.D. Martinez hit a three-run shot and Rafael Devers also homered on Friday night to lead the Boston Red Sox to an 11-5 victory over the Philadelph­ia Phillies.

Hernandez’ homer was his fifth from the leadoff spot this season; only Kyle Schwarber (7) and Jose Altuve (6) have more.

Boston snapped a two-game skid and won its ninth straight at Fenway Park.

Rays 7, Blue Jays 1: Three Tampa Bay relievers combined on five more scoreless innings, Ji-man Choi drove in three and the Rays won their fifth straight. Andrew Kittredge (6-1) and Jeffrey Springs each worked two perfect innings, with Springs striking out five. J.P. Feyereisen completed the five-hitter. Taylor Walls added a tworun double for Tampa Bay.

Rangers 3, A’s 2: Adolis Garcia’s two-run single highlighte­d Texas’ three-run sixth after Oakland’s Cole Irvin took a no-hitter into the inning, and Jordan Lyles won his third straight start for the Rangers.

Cubs 10, Cardinals 5: Kyle Hendricks won his ninth straight decision, Patrick Wisdom hit a two-run homer and Chicago beat St. Louis. Kris Bryant drove in three runs with a pinch-hit double to start Chicago’s five-run burst in the seventh inning before Wisdom went deep against his former team.

Reds 2, Brewers 0: Wade Miley pitched eight shutout innings and helped himself by doubling and scoring as Cincinnati snapped Milwaukee’s seven-game home win streak. Tucker

Barnhart and Jesse Winker hit RBI doubles for the Reds. Eric Lauer allowed four hits and one run in six innings for Milwaukee.

Braves 5, Marlins 0: Charlie Morton pitched seven innings of two-hit ball, Ronald Acuna Jr. was restrained after being plunked by another Marlins pitcher and Atlanta beat Miami. Freddie Freeman homered and Austin Riley doubled and tripled for the Braves. Ozzie Albies and Dansby Swanson each had two hits and an RBI.

Indians 2, Royals 1: Bobby Bradley homered leading off the ninth as Cleveland overcame some brutal baserunnin­g that led to manager Terry Francona’s ejection in its second straight walk-off win.

Twins 4, Tigers 2: Max Kepler hit a two-run triple during a four-run sixth for Minnesota. Robbie Grossman hit a two-run homer for Detroit.

White Sox 12, Orioles 1: Baltimorea­rea native Gavin Sheets homered in his first trip to Camden Yards as a major leaguer, lifting Chicago. Sheets, whose father, Larry, played six seasons with the Orioles in the 1980s, smashed a pitch from Cesar Valdez to right-center in the seventh. Jose Abreu reached base four times and drove in three and Tim Anderson had three hits for the White Sox, who have won three in a row and eight of their last 11. Adam Engel hit a three-run homer. Dallas Keuchel (7-3) yielding one run in seven innings to earn his first road victory since May 17. Ramon Urias homered for Baltimore.

Notes: Rangers rookie left-hander John King was put on the 10-day injured list because of left shoulder inflammati­on . ... Astros shortstop Carlos Correa was placed on the injured list due to health and safety protocols. ... Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw got an MRI on his sore left elbow that showed inflammati­on but no structural damage. L.A. manager Dave Roberts said that Kershaw is scheduled to play catch Saturday . ... Giants catcher Buster Posey was put on the 10-day injured list with a bruised left thumb, costing him his starting spot in the All-star Game.
