Ruling monarchs
This time of season the monarchs really do rule.
As so many of us do, Jeanne Countermine of Altamont enjoys the monarchs in the summer, along with the other butterfly varieties that visit her yard, above.
At right, from Tracey Zacharias of Saratoga Springs: “Here's a monarch butterfly raised from a small caterpillar. Hatched from its chrysalis that very morning. While drying his wings (black spots on his wings indicate male), I placed him on a rose of Sharon.”
