Owner: Raiders weren’t targeted

Davis said team has settled with Gruden

- By Barry Wilner

Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis says he doesn’t believe the team was targeted in the leaking of emails that led to the resignation of coach Jon Gruden.

Speaking after the NFL owners meetings ended Wednesday, Davis also acknowledged the team has reached a settlement with Gruden, who received a 10-year, $100 million contract to return to coach the team in 2018. He did not reveal the settlement terms.

Davis wondered about the timing of the leaking of the emails; the NFL has not and will not be releasing documents from the independent investigation of the Washington Football Team, saying the league is protecting the identities of those who testified. Gruden’s emails were to Bruce Allen, the former president of the Washington franchise.

Davis would like the league to release a written report of the investigation.

Jets: Mike White is going from little-known backup to the Big Apple spotlight. White will make his first NFL start Sunday for New York against the Cincinnati Bengals in place of the injured Zach Wilson. “We have a lot of faith in Mike,” coach Robert Saleh said Wednesday. “Mike has done a hell of a job. He’s earned this right to go out there and play on Sunday and show what he’s capable of.” ... RB Tevin Coleman (hamstring), DE Bryce Huff (back), LB Quincy Williams (concussion) and TE/FB Trevon Wesco (knee) all didn’t practice. … LB C.J. Mosley practiced on a limited basis — a good sign he might able to play Sunday. … S Ashtyn Davis (shoulder), TE Tyler Kroft (back) and DE Shaq Lawson (wrist) were limited. … LB Jarrad Davis (ankle), P Braden Mann (sprained left knee) and DE Kyle Phillips (ankle) were also designated to return to practice, and all could be activated to play as early as Sunday.

Texans: Quarterback Tyrod Taylor returned to practice Wednesday for the first time since injuring his hamstring in Week 2, but his status for Sunday’s game against the Rams remains uncertain.

Cowboys: Dak Prescott has been limited in practice with a right calf strain.
