ALBANY — Salvatore Boncordo, born in 1942 in Messina, Sicily, entered into eternal life on January 15, 2022, surrounded by his devoted family. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Vittoria (Crisafulli) Boncordo. He is also survived by his son, Dr. Antonio Boncordo (Dr. Linda Emmer); and his daughters, Melissa (Michael) and Emily Boncordo. He was also the proud and loving grandfathe­r of Alexander, Christophe­r, Ava and Antonio. Additional­ly, he is survived by his sister, Cettina Boncordo; and his sisters-in-law, Santina Crisafulli, Mathilde Cavallo and Rosa Rondazzo. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was predecease­d by his parents, Antonio and Letteria Boncordo; his brothers, Letterio and Giovanni Boncordo; and his brother-in-law, Orazio La Spina.

In Italy, Salvatore was a police officer in Rome. When he emigrated to the United States, he learned new trades and became a master plumber. He also worked at Tobin Packing for a few years and then retired after working 30 years as a steel inspector at Al Tech Specialty Steel.

During his life, Sal was the quintessen­tial Italian gardener and loved planting his tomatoes, beans, pear trees and fig trees. Sal was very athletic and enjoyed everything outdoors. He enjoyed swimming, fishing, bicycling, rollerblad­ing, scuba diving and of course bocce ball. However, his true joy in life was spending time with his family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial funeral Mass on Friday, January 21, at 11 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, Loudonvill­e. Please only enter the church from the front doorway; church ambassador­s will be available to help with seating and questions. Masks are required for everyone; social distancing is also available on the two sides of the church. Please attempt to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the Mass.
